The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike, along with the All Progressives Congress (APC), have rejected the Rivers State local government elections, insisting no election occurred. Both parties are set to challenge the process in court. Despite the violence-marred poll, the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions. Governor Siminalayi Fubara swore in the newly elected officials, hailing the election as a democratic success. However, the PDP and APC argue the poll defied a Federal High Court ruling, intensifying tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.
