President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Prof. Wahab Egbewole, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, addressed the combined convocation of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), emphasizing the urgent need to remove petrol subsidies and unify exchange rates.

“The good life we thought we were living was a fake one, capable of leading the country to total collapse unless drastic efforts were urgently taken,” Tinubu stated. He explained that these tough decisions were necessary to secure the future of Nigerians, despite their immediate impact.

Tinubu also expressed concern over youth migration and the resulting brain drain, urging collective efforts to rebuild the nation. FUTA Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, encouraged graduates to use their knowledge for societal advancement.

The president reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to its “Renewed Hope” agenda for national progress.
