Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Wale Ajetunmobi, following a controversial tweet on his personal X account. The now-deleted post alleged that arsonists who burned down TVC during the 2020 #EndSARS protests were “hunted down and executed,” including a young trader allegedly found with an AK-47 rifle.
In response to public backlash, Ajetunmobi clarified that the term “executed” was “erroneously used” and insisted his tweet reflected a personal opinion, not the government’s stance. Sanwo-Olu’s spokesperson, Gboyega Akosile, emphasized that the administration rejects extra-judicial actions, stating, “That is not who we are. That is not our way.”
The suspension highlights the administration’s commitment to accountability and distancing itself from actions inconsistent with its principles.
