The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all 14 chairmanship seats and every councillorship position in the Zamfara State local government elections. Announcing the results, the Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), Bala Aliyu, declared the elections free, fair, and credible, crediting the success to collaboration among security agencies, election officials, and voters. PDP representative Wadatau Madawaki described the outcome as a strong endorsement of the party’s leadership and urged the new local government chairmen to align with Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission for the state’s development. Independent observers commended the peaceful conduct of the elections and improved security arrangements.
This clean sweep in Zamfara follows a similar trend in Ogun and Delta states, where ruling parties also achieved dominant victories in local government elections. In Delta, the PDP claimed all 25 chairmanship seats and 499 of the 500 councillorship positions. Such results across multiple states reflect a growing pattern of local electoral dominance by ruling parties.Today
