The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has begun distributing 1,000 vehicle conversion kits across several states to help reduce transportation costs following the removal of fuel subsidies. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Program Director Michael Oluwagbemi stated that the initiative aims to convert three million vehicles to CNG over the next three years, creating over 100,000 direct jobs.

Commercial transport operators will have their vehicles converted free of charge to ease the burden of rising fuel costs. Moses Onate, the Warehouse Manager, revealed that 450 kits have already been distributed, with 550 more ready for deployment under the ‘First Come, First Serve’ scheme. The conversion kits will allow vehicles to run on compressed natural gas, a cleaner and more cost-effective alternative to petrol.
