National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu emphasized the Tinubu administration’s achievements while promising to dismantle the newly emerged Lakurawa terror group. Speaking at the Nigeria Customs Conference in Abuja, Ribadu assured Nigerians that Lakurawa, an insurgent group from Niger and Mali now active in Kebbi and Sokoto, will be “crushed” just as Boko Haram was weakened. Ribadu pointed to President Tinubu’s successes, including boosting oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day, implementing economic reforms, and securing $30 billion in foreign investment commitments.
He highlighted improvements in security, particularly in the Niger Delta and South-East, alongside reforms in the Central Bank of Nigeria to curb corruption. Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adeniyi also shared Customs’ achievements, surpassing the N5 trillion revenue target and projecting a 10% increase by year’s end. Adeniyi credited Customs’ successes to new partnerships and enforcement actions that have bolstered border security and trade facilitation.
