President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate release of children and others detained over the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, leading a Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss charges against the 119 accused. Justice Obiora Egwuatu granted the Attorney General’s request to end the case after the AGF, acting on presidential orders, cited his constitutional authority to drop the charges.
The president’s directive followed public outrage over the prolonged detention of minors, with calls from activists and civil society groups. To support the affected children, Tinubu instructed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to ensure their welfare and facilitate reunions with their families.
