Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has alleged threats to his life following criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in his New Year message. The allegations were sparked by a statement from APC spokesperson Felix Morka, who reportedly claimed Obi had “crossed the line” and should expect consequences.

In his New Year address, Obi criticized the worsening state of Nigeria’s politics, economy, security, and healthcare. He highlighted alarming statistics, including over 100 million Nigerians living in extreme poverty and a significant drop in GDP and per capita income over the past decade.

Responding to the threats on his social media, Obi questioned where he had “crossed the line” and reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out against undemocratic practices. He decried the suppression of free speech and called for a freer and better society for future generations.
