The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Federal Government to reverse the recent petrol price hike, describing it as a “brutal assault” on Nigerians. In a statement issued by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party criticized the increase, warning that it could lead to a crisis as Nigerians are already struggling with severe economic hardships under the Bola Tinubu-led administration.
Ologunagba highlighted that the country is facing over 34% inflation, over 40% unemployment, and widespread poverty, with 150 million citizens now living below the poverty line. The PDP accused the APC government of being indifferent to the suffering of the people, with many unable to afford basic necessities.
The party also criticized President Tinubu’s economic policies, urging him to reverse the fuel price hike and reconsider other “suffocating” policies. Ologunagba emphasized that with better management, petrol prices should not exceed ₦250 per liter. The PDP reiterated its commitment to offering constructive advice on improving the nation’s economy.
