Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) launched its campaign with a rally in Akure. Hundreds of supporters gathered, as the PDP’s National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Damagun, presented the party’s flag to their candidate, Agboola Ajayi.

Damagun called on voters to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of causing widespread hardship, and urged people to protect their votes. “This is the opportunity for you to change the narrative,” he said.

Ajayi, alongside his running mate, Festus Akingbaso, requested the removal of Ondo’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, citing concerns over her impartiality.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi declared the party unified and called for an end to the suffering caused by APC. Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde urged voters not to sell their votes and emphasized the importance of a free and fair election.

Party leaders, including former governors and officials, also encouraged voters to protect their votes and prevent any election manipulation.
