Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State, has filed a ₦20 billion defamation lawsuit against Senator Adams Oshiomhole over alleged defamatory comments related to the “Planwell” scheme. Ighodalo, through his legal counsel, Ayo Asala (SAN) & Associates, also demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from Oshiomhole, to be broadcast on two national television networks and published in three major newspapers.

Ighodalo accused Oshiomhole of fabricating false allegations, claiming that he was involved in the Planwell pyramid scheme, which defrauded numerous Nigerians. The PDP candidate described these accusations as baseless and politically motivated, intended to tarnish his reputation and benefit Oshiomhole’s party ahead of the September 21 election.

Ighodalo’s legal team emphasized that the allegations have caused significant damage to his reputation and vowed to ensure the claims are addressed in court if the demands are not met.
