The All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed victory in 13 chairmanship positions and won 140 out of 147 councillorship seats in the recently concluded local government elections in Nasarawa State, as announced by Ayuba Usman, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).
The November 2nd elections saw peaceful participation, with a high turnout attributed to NASIEC’s awareness campaigns and security efforts. Although voter apathy persisted in some areas, the use of technology helped ensure an efficient process. Out of the remaining seats, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) secured five councillorship positions, and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won two.
NASIEC’s commitment to transparency was echoed by Usman, who highlighted the active involvement of 14 political parties as evidence of confidence in the electoral process, reinforcing democratic values at the grassroots level.
