Abubakar Maigandi, the National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has challenged Aliko Dangote’s assertion that his 650,000 barrels per day refinery holds 500 million liters of petrol for distribution. Maigandi pointed out that IPMAN members, tasked by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to collect products from the refinery, were unable to load any petrol for four days, despite having paid N40 billion to the NNPCL.
During an appearance on ChannelsTV, Maigandi expressed surprise at Dangote’s claims, stating, “We are ready to buy the product from Dangote if he is ready to sell it to us directly.” He criticized the current process of sourcing fuel through the NNPCL and suggested that the Dangote refinery should register independent marketers directly to streamline product distribution.
