Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has promised to take strong measures against those responsible for burning down three local government secretariats. During a swearing-in ceremony for four new commissioners in Port Harcourt, Fubara stated, “We will hold them accountable,” emphasizing that this incident will not be ignored.

The governor revealed that he had warned local council chairmen of potential attacks and praised his supporters for staying calm during the unrest. He also shared plans to address crude oil theft and increase production while urging his new commissioners to work closely with him to overcome socio-economic challenges.

This follows Monday’s arson attacks on the Ikwere and Emohua council secretariats after the withdrawal of police security. President Bola Tinubu has since directed the Nigerian Police Force to ensure security at all 23 local government secretariats.
