The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered a massive estate in Lokogoma, Abuja, measuring 150,500 square meters with 753 duplexes and apartments. Described as its “single largest asset recovery” since its inception in 2003, the property was forfeited to the Federal Government following a court ruling on December 2, 2024, by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie.
The estate, allegedly built with proceeds of fraudulent activities by a former government official, was seized under Nigeria’s anti-fraud laws. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede emphasized the importance of asset recovery in combating corruption, stating that seizing such assets deprives suspects of resources to counter investigations.
This recovery, hailed as a significant milestone in EFCC’s operations, underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to the fight against corruption, according to the agency.
