The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, citing allegations of misappropriating N1.3 trillion in derivation funds allocated between 2015 and 2023. Okowa was reportedly taken into custody at the EFCC’s Port Harcourt office after being invited for questioning. Sources close to the investigation claim he is accused of misusing these funds, including N40 billion allegedly invested in an offshore LNG venture and other assets in Abuja and Delta State.
