President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory in the Edo State governorship election. Okpebholo won with 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes, and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata, who secured 22,763 votes.

In a statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged Okpebholo to approach his victory with humility and focus on uniting the state. He encouraged Okpebholo to reach out to his rivals and ensure the development of Edo State.

Tinubu also commended the peaceful nature of the election, praising all candidates for their contributions to democracy. He urged anyone dissatisfied with the results to seek legal recourse, while acknowledging the efforts of INEC and security agencies in conducting a free and fair election.
