Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has condemned the outcome of the Edo State governorship election, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, was declared the winner. In a statement on Sunday, Fintiri expressed his disappointment, describing the election as a “shameful” exercise that undermines Nigeria’s democracy.
Fintiri criticized the APC for alleged misconduct, accusing the party’s national chairman of defying election-day movement restrictions and using intimidation tactics. He also raised concerns over reports of vote-buying, tampering with results, and discrepancies between accredited voters and final vote counts, calling it a “rape of democracy.”
“We must condemn this attack on democracy and demand accountability,” Fintiri urged, expressing his dismay at the overall handling of the election by INEC.
