The Court of Appeal in Abuja has confirmed Olumide Akpata as the Labour Party’s governorship candidate for the upcoming Edo State election. This decision follows a previous ruling in June by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, which dismissed a lawsuit aimed at nullifying Akpata’s nomination.
Justice Omotosho ruled in favor of Akpata’s defense, presented by his lawyer, Johnson Usman (SAN), stating that the plaintiffs had no legal standing to challenge his candidacy. The appeal court’s decision reaffirms Akpata’s position as the Labour Party’s official candidate for the September 21 election.
