Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has justified the confiscation of palliatives meant for the Ushongo/Kwande Federal Constituency, following accusations by Representative Terseer Ugboh. Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, Governor Alia explained that the palliatives were seized after a tip-off revealed they had been diverted to a private residence, bypassing the proper registration process with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

The relief materials, provided by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), were impounded and moved to the government house for investigation. Alia assured that the palliatives would be distributed to the intended beneficiaries once the investigation is complete.

Ugboh, however, expressed frustration over the seizure, explaining that the palliatives were being stored in Makurdi for future distribution. He claimed to have spent over ₦5 million to transport the items, which included 578 bags each of rice, garri, and other essential goods. He warned that if the truck was not released by Tuesday, he would seek legal action. Ugboh urged his constituents, particularly displaced persons, to remain patient.
