The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured all 20 chairmanship seats and won across 236 wards in the Ogun State Local Government elections held on Saturday. Babatunde Osibodu, Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), announced the results, revealing that 613,156 votes were cast during the exercise.
However, the opposition criticized the election, alleging widespread irregularities. Labour Party Chairman in Ogun, Biodun Jagun, claimed, “There was no election in virtually all polling units across the state.” He accused OGSIEC of failing to supply election materials on time and called for the election’s cancellation, warning of legal action if their demands are not met.
The election included participation from 19 political parties, but the APC emerged as the sole victor amidst growing dissent from opposition parties and public skepticism over the process.
