Aisha Yesufu Slams Factional Labour Party Chairman for ‘Big Fat Lie’ Over Campaign Funds Management, Challenges Him to Account for Public Donations

The Obi-Datti fundraising team has strongly denied claims by Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure that only Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo managed the campaign funds for Peter Obi

The Obi-Datti fundraising team has strongly denied claims by Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure that only Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo managed the campaign funds for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election. Abure had stated that the Labour Party was not involved in handling campaign donations and that the signatories were Yesufu and Ighodalo, denying any mismanagement of funds.

In a viral video, Yesufu refuted Abure’s claim, calling him a liar and challenging him to explain the use of funds raised through the Labour Party’s “N1,000 Challenge” campaign initiated in 2022. She emphasized that Abure was involved in campaign fundraising and questioned the lack of transparency regarding the public donations received by the party.

The dispute arises months after Yesufu revealed that the fundraising team received ₦596 million in donations, while Peter Obi spent ₦744.5 million on post-election litigation.
