The Rivers State government has refuted viral social media claims alleging that Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the closure of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other oil firms within the state. In a formal statement, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, labeled the report as “concocted propaganda” from “enemies of the State” and reiterated that the administration adheres to lawful governance practices.
