President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser, Sunday Dare, has criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo for his call to reform Nigeria’s electoral system during the Chinua Achebe Leadership Forum at Yale University. Obasanjo suggested appointing independent INEC leaders with short tenures to curb political influence and rebuild public trust.
In response, Dare accused Obasanjo of hypocrisy, labeling him a “mischief-maker” and alleging his administration was the “most corrupt in Nigeria’s history.” He cited unresolved issues, such as the $16 billion electricity project and the former president’s failed third-term bid, as evidence undermining Obasanjo’s credibility on governance reforms.
