Faced with rising transportation costs due to economic challenges, some Abuja residents are choosing to walk short distances as both a cost-saving measure and a way to stay active. Ibrahim Katsina, a house agent, noted, “I don’t find joy in trekking; I do it mainly because I cannot afford transportation.” Katsina plans to invest in an electric bicycle as an alternative. Meanwhile, resident George Aderogba finds walking beneficial for his health, despite the fuel crisis, and emphasized the need for the government to restore local refineries to ease fuel prices. Sumaila Ogbaje, another resident, also highlighted the health benefits of walking and shared that walking has become an even more frequent choice in light of current fuel challenges.
