Former Communications Minister Adebayo Shittu has expressed disappointment over President Bola Tinubu’s recent cabinet overhaul, suggesting that the changes were politically motivated rather than aimed at bringing in more qualified leaders. Shittu, speaking on Channels Television, noted, “It is just a case of some Nigerians being asked to move on, some others being brought in,” emphasizing that the reshuffle does not necessarily equate to an improvement in governance.

Following public outcry over cabinet performance amid Nigeria’s economic and security challenges, Tinubu recently replaced five ministers, reassigned ten, and nominated seven others awaiting Senate confirmation. Shittu underscored the importance of merit over political considerations in ministerial appointments, warning that Nigerians have little tolerance for “trial-and-error” leadership.
