Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has called on his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to release his control over the state and allow peace to prevail. Speaking on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, Fubara emphasized his efforts to maintain harmony, despite resistance from Wike’s allies within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). He stated that he has done everything possible to maintain peace, including kneeling to beg, but insists it’s time for Wike to “let go” for the benefit of the state’s future.

Fubara stressed that governance should now take priority over political battles, calling on Wike to support the state’s progress. Recent violence following local government elections, with secretariats set ablaze, heightened tensions in Rivers State. Despite these challenges, Fubara affirmed that elections are over and it is time to focus on governing and securing the state for future leaders.
