Ahead of the November 2 local government election in Abia State, the Labour Party has dismissed an announcement by former chairman Ceekay Igara regarding the sale of nomination forms. Acting chairman Emmanuel Otti urged party members to obtain forms only from the official secretariat in Umuahia and warned that unauthorized instructions should be disregarded and reported. Otti emphasized that the Caretaker Committee is the sole authority for the election process and pledged a transparent and orderly selection of candidates.

The Labour Party also shared its schedule for the primaries: forms will be available from October 2, submissions and candidate screenings will take place on October 3, and primaries will follow on October 4.
