The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) claimed a landslide victory in the September 28, 2024, local government elections in Anambra State, winning all 21 chairmanship and 326 councillorship seats.
In a press briefing, Genevieve Osakwe, Chairperson of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), declared that APGA candidates secured the highest votes in all wards. She described the election as free, fair, and credible, commending Anambra citizens for their strong turnout and the security agencies for maintaining peace.
Osakwe confirmed that the results were carefully collated to avoid mistakes. Notably, no representatives from opposition parties were present during the announcement.
