The organizers of the planned October 1 nationwide protest against rising hardship have affirmed their commitment to proceed despite warnings from the Nigerian government and police. Activist Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate and one of the protest leaders, took to social media to declare there would be “No Going Back” on the peaceful demonstrations.

Sowore stated that the protest would be held across the country, including Abuja’s Eagles Square, to draw attention to the widespread hunger, insecurity, and economic challenges plaguing Nigeria. He dismissed threats from authorities, assuring the public that the protests would be peaceful despite previous government responses involving force.

The Nigeria Police Force has not officially been notified of the protests but has begun deploying officers in states to maintain order. Despite these actions, protest organizers from the Take It Back Movement emphasized their right to peaceful assembly and their resolve to continue, rejecting calls from some officials to delay the demonstration.
