The Kogi State House of Assembly has called for the immediate removal of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, accusing him of unprofessional conduct in handling the case against former Governor Yahaya Bello. During a plenary session, lawmakers alleged that Olukoyede’s actions, including an attack on the Kogi Government Lodge, posed a threat to the current Governor, Usman Ododo, and the former governor.
Hon. Akus Lawal, who moved the motion, argued that the EFCC was intent on humiliating and possibly harming the two governors. Other lawmakers echoed these sentiments, labeling the EFCC’s actions as a politically motivated witch-hunt rather than a genuine anti-corruption effort. The House concluded that the agency’s behavior was unacceptable and urged President Bola Tinubu to remove Olukoyede from office.
In addition to condemning the EFCC’s actions, the Assembly passed a resolution praising President Tinubu’s economic policies aimed at strengthening the nation’s economy.
