The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has called for the immediate reversal of the recent increase in petrol prices, warning that it will worsen the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. In a statement titled *”Reverse Petrol Prices Now”*, Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda emphasized that the price hike disregards transparency and fairness, further eroding the purchasing power of millions and pushing more families into poverty.
Chinda expressed concern over the lack of consultation with key stakeholders, including the National Assembly, before the decision was made. He noted that the resulting unrest, triggered by widespread protests, reflects growing frustration with the dire economic conditions.
The caucus urged the government to implement sustainable measures to stabilize the economy without increasing the burden on citizens, warning that failure to address these issues could lead to broader social and political instability.
